Does what it should…but in an interesting way.

My iPod needs to have the 1/8 inch jack plugged in, but it charges through the bottom cable.

My 3gs says that it does not work to charge, but it does…the 1/8 inch jack does not need to be used – actually, it can’t be plugged in to get it to work.

For the price, I’m happy and would suggest this item…you just need to learn how to hook up your device.

I picked this up a couple of weeks ago for use with a Google Nexus One phone (since at the time of this writing, the “official” car dock is not released yet). It fits the phone perfectly using a pair of supplied smaller rails than the ones shown in the picture.

Apparently the Nexus One requires some magnets to trigger the “official” dock thing, which is to activate the “Car Home” app when docked, but this is not really a necessity for me.

I use the dock in a 2007 Mini Cooper, which has a very deep windshield, and this dock having an extra long articulating arm is the perfect length for the dashboard. I have it mounted in the lower left corner of the windshield and it sits perfectly at the edge. I then ran a USB cable down to the cigrette lighter for power, and for music I bought a Blackberry Bluetooth Gateway that plugs into the car’s aux input and sounds great.

This phone holder is great. I use it for my iPhone and it fits perfectly. I originally bought this to use the vent mount but soon after installing it i realized that my pull out screen would get in the way. Now it is attached to my windshield using the window mount. I prefer the vent mount but the window mount works almost as well. The only complaint I have with the window mount is that it moves and vibrates somewhat. But not enough so the phone gets damaged. The “travel” distance is minimal.

I have tried various kinds or mounts and I think this is the best for the money.

It is very well constructed. I’m using it on the vent of a Nissan pathfinder and a new beetle and it works nice in both.

I just got this product and I wasn’t satisfied. The product claims that the mount can rotate 360 degrees; however, that’s only true for the windshield mount. The vent mount is fixed and doesn’t rotate or even tilt.

Although not very stable, the windshield mount is acceptable. The vent mount, on the other hand, isn’t that great: it was not easy to install and I had the impression that I was going to break the mount pins as I was pushing it into the vent. My vents in my car are located near the top of the dash, so they are angled and do not face me (as the driver) perfectly; since the vent mount has no rotational capabilities, my phone’s orientation isn’t convenient and is hard to see while driving. Also, it was quite hard to insert and remove my iphone from the mount as it doesn’t fit easily, probably because of the protective case on my iphone. The difficulty in inserting/removing the phone makes it not practical, since the pressure can easily damage my vent if not inserted/removed with care.

Overall, I believe only the windshield mount is usable; otherwise, if you’re looking to use the vent mount, then I wouldn’t recommend this product unless your vent’s orientation in your car faces you perfectly. If you have a protective case on your phone, then I wouldn’t recommend this product, since it doesn’t fit easily.
